5 Unspoken Rules in Relationships

Here are some unspoken rules that people in relationships unconsciously do, and you likely do them too! You don’t have to follow all of these rules, but they are nice to know if you want to be a little more caring.

The Sidewalk Rule

When walking on a sidewalk, you have to walk on the outside part that is closest to the road. This is so that you can protect your significant other or move them if something happens. If the sidewalk is too narrow for you two to walk side by side or if there is an obstruction in the sidewalk, whether you walk ahead or walk behind depends on the situation. If you are walking with the direction of traffic, then you walk behind them. If you are walking against the direction of traffic, then you walk in front of them. In doing so, you can protect them if something were to happen. If you are walking down a quiet street, then it really doesn’t matter if you walk ahead or behind.

Protection in a Public Place

Similar to the sidewalk rule, it varies if you should enter a venue first. If you know somewhere is safe, then you can hold the door and let them go in first. If you are unsure, then you go in first.
