Simple Swaps for Low Waste Living

With municipal waste growing each year, people are becoming increasingly conscious of what they use. Additionally, since the popularity of the zero waste trend in 2017, many are looking for simple swaps to decrease their waste. In the beginning it may seem like you are spending a lot of money, but in the long run you end up saving a lot. But how much you save depends on how often you use these products. Purchasing reusable items are only beneficial for the environment and your wallet when you use them.

Water Bottles

When leaving for work or school, it’s best to bring your own reusable bottle. By doing so you don’t have to splurge on cases of water or contribute to the extensive energy required to bottle that water. Some favorites are Klean Kanteen, a brand dedicated to sustainable practices and is carbon neutral, Swell (stainless steel), Life Factory (glass), and Bobble (plastic). If you want bottles that keep your drink hot or cold, I would recommend an insulated one, such as Swell, Klean Kanteen, or Hydro Flask, all of which are easy to clean and have lasted me years. If you don’t want to splurge on a water bottle, I would recommend either checking the sale section of Hydro Flask and Swell, or buying a Voss bottle. Voss bottles are made of glass, are dishwasher safe (or at least in my experience they are), and only $1.99 at Target.
